Mercury Fishing Cup II, registration postponed

Following the announcement by the President of the Republic on Sunday June 9 and the organization of early parliamentary elections, the organizers of the Mercury Fishing Cup, the French championship for lure fishing for carnivorous fish in boats, are forced to announce the postponement of the start date for entries.

Registration date postponed

Initially scheduled for June 22, this date has now been pushed back to July 9, 2024, following the second round of parliamentary elections. The Mercury Fishing Cup, organized by the Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives (FFPS) and Mercury Marine, is freshwater fishing's flagship event. Fishing enthusiasts and competitors will now have a little more time to prepare and register for this prestigious competition.

Michel Polydor president of the Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives (FFPS)/Carnassier, said that the organization of new legislative elections had forced the federation to review its calendar. "This situation also impacts another major event, the Salmo Trek, which will finally take place on the same day as the first round. A number of FFPS/Carnassier volunteers are local councillors, and their commitment during these election periods means that we have to reorganize at the last minute. Meanwhile, the MFC project will not be able to move forward for the next three to four weeks."

Alexandre Portheault fFPS/Carnassier vice-president added: "In addition to my activities within the federation, I am also mayor of a commune. The recent announcements by the President of the Republic oblige me to concentrate on the organization of these new elections. The presentation of the Mercury Fishing Cup website originally scheduled for the end of this week has also been postponed for several days."

In the meantime, you can find all the main information on the FFPS/Carnassier website, including sporting regulations, the programme, registration details and miscellaneous information.

Numerous partners

Yann Diquerreau marketing manager at Mercury Marine France and co-organizer of the MFC, said the team is continuing to announce new MFC partners on social networks. "Most of the partners have already been announced in the form of teasers on Mercury Marine France's social networks and those of the FFPS/Carnassier, and the following ones will be unveiled this week and next. We would like to thank all our partners for their confidence. The official event poster will be presented by the end of June, featuring all partners and the MFC website. Just a little more patience!

A chance to win 10,000 euros

Registration for the MFC will therefore begin after the general elections, on July 9, 2024 via the My FFPS app, available on Apple Store and Google Play. The registration fee for MFC II will be 400 euros per two-person crew, or 100 euros per day per person.

The enthusiasm of competitors since the announcement on March 21, combined with the affordable entry fee and the chance to win 10,000 euros, should result in strong demand for the available places. The number of places will be announced in early July.
