A comprehensive competition
The 2026 edition featured an even more structured format. The announced route covered approximately 50 to 60 km, with nearly 3,000 m of elevation gain, about ten checkpoints, and several bivouac areas spread throughout the course. The rankings are based on the cumulative length of the fish caught, which requires teams to balance strategy, environmental awareness, and endurance. Timed special stages also help determine the winners among the pairs, adding an extra dimension to this already comprehensive competition.
A modern challenge
Beyond the sporting aspect, the Salmo Trek remains true to its environmental philosophy. The organizers emphasize strict supervision, the use of a dedicated app to track teams and streamline operations, as well as rules focused on respecting the environment. Fish are handled with care, equipment must meet specific criteria, and risky behavior is penalized. This approach reinforces the image of a modern event, where performance goes hand in hand with the protection of salmonids and their habitat.

In terms of participation, the event continues to attract a wide audience of recreational anglers, with strong appeal among mountain anglers and competitors accustomed to endurance race formats. This sixth edition was packed with action, closely followed, and highly competitive.
The Podium

Congratulations also to Milo Calu, who was named the competition's top young player.
As for the biggest catches, a 40-cm cristivomer and a 47-cm trout were caught during the competition.

Ultimately, the Salmo Trek 2026 reaffirms its unique position: an extreme, demanding, and challenging fishing competition, where trout are only part of the challenge. Between navigation, physical exertion, camp management, and reading high-altitude lakes, this year?s event served as a reminder that success depends as much on physical endurance as it does on technique.
