Fishing near Paris
It's clearly not the best-known course in the Ile-de-France region, but I'd like to talk about it. It was indeed very close to the CESI engineering school, where I did part of my studies; I had access to this spot at lunchtime and in the evening on an almost daily basis. I had access to this spot at lunchtime and in the evenings on an almost daily basis.
Situated downstream of Paris, in the Hauts de Seine region, it is a fishy river. Whatever people may say, the Seine is still a river whose water quality has improved considerably, and which offers some very fine possibilities. The riverbank is very accessible, with a cycle path running for several kilometers along the left bank. An urban but very "green" route along the chemin de l'île park.
Chub spotlights
The course is quite complete, with numerous structures to prospect; dock entrances, piles, sheet piling, bridge piers, barges... A great training ground. It's also possible to do a lot of walking and pounding the ground in an attempt to spot chub, many of which swim close to the surface in fine weather.

Special features
This course can be fished all year round. In summer, perch and chub can be fished with small two-inch shads. Chub, sometimes in large schools, will respond well to a well-presented Woodlouse.
In autumn, pike-perch and catfish will be in the game by painting the dock entrances near the bottom with leaded shad between 7 and 15 grams.
A few melanote ides are also present.
Dominant species
- Poles
- Sheepsheads
- Pike-perch
Suitable techniques and preferred lures
Traditional small shads on lead heads are among the classics. Blades and small crankbaits are also effective for fishing along sheet piles.

The drop shot allows you to hit the bottom or the far end when targeting perch in particular.
Sight-fishing for chub is possible in summer when there is little wind.
In autumn, percids are very active, especially pike-perch. Shads in 4" (10 cm) size, animated close to the bottom and drifting in the current, are very effective.
Tips and tricks for success
In summer, a UL (Ultra-Light) set allows you to fish for chub and perch on the course.

In autumn, opt for an M or MH combo (or even more!) for pike-perch or catfish stalking.
