Fishing for carp and carass in wild rivers
The Iberian Master is an opportunity to implement a particular approach to this fishing course, fishing with flat float and maggot stuck.
In fact, the lines always remain mounted on the same principle. On the other hand, it is necessary to adapt the size of the nylon of the body of line. In 18/100 and 20/100, these are the main sizes of nylon used to mount the lines.
The particularity of the river is that from one day to the next, you can go from a flat float set in 2 grams to a float in 10 grams. It is better to go there by being ready to fish to adapt to the various conditions encountered.
Adapting to depth
The floats used and to be foreseen are the flat floats to be wedged, the flat ones to be passed, and the ball floats. In order not to be surprised by the height of the water, all the lines are mounted in 5 meters. On average this year, we fished in 4 meters of water.
The lines must be designed to fish with a leader. The hook sizes to be mounted are from size 10 to 18 and from 20/100 to 14/100. Again, it is better to come with a choice, in order to optimize your time and energy on site by being ready.
The kits and elastics are identical to those used in carp fishing in France. On average with elastics of 2.5 - 2.7.
Most of the time, the lines are probed with a little bit of drag.
Fishing on the edge
On the fishing itself, some edge fishing is to be expected. During the day, there are always one or two passages of fish that should not be missed. And again, you wouldn't believe it. The fish climb completely on the rocks and pebbles to eat. It is even extraordinary to watch. All the time of fishing, we throw just some grains of corn regularly to try to maintain the fish.
Then, the fishing will be done from 9 to 13 meters according to the configurations of the bottom, according to the sectors and the places. And there again, from one place to another the bottom can be as flat and clean, as chaotic.
According to the current of the day, we make a selection of line for the day. Either we decide to fish with a wedge or to slide on the flat, or with a ball, in a more classic way.
The baiting strategy, but also the choice of baits, will be a key factor in triggering hits.
