History and description

Latin name : Cannabis sativa

English name : Hempseed

Native to Central Asia, chènevis comes from a plant called Cannabis Sativa (hemp) and related to the hop and fig tree. It belongs to the cannabinacae family. This seed has been cultivated for over 6,000 years. Before the twentieth century, more than 75% of the paper production was based on hemp. Indeed, hemp plants produce four times more paper fiber than trees. At that time, people also cultivated hemp seeds to feed themselves, but also to feed animals. From these seeds, men produced edible oil, lamp oil and polish oil, then this plant was banned.

Nutritional qualities of hemp seed

First of all, the chènevis possède a natural smell without equal as well as all its derived products like oilâeuros¦ The chènevis is rich in proteins since it possède 30 to 50 % more than fish. Still! The chènevis is also rich in oil. The latter is polyunsaturated and rich in essential fatty acids (omega 3 and 6). These essential fatty acids work in synergy and are dependent on each other to be activated. Hemp seed contains them in ideal proportions.

However, these essential fatty acids are sensitive to heat and light. Moreover, the chènevis tends to become rancid in contact with the air. Concerning the proportion of proteins and oil, it is balanced. The chènevis seed alone is very attractive and moreover not fattening, because rich in fibers. It is the model of vegetable protein because it is digestible (fibers), balanced and complete.

Ãeuros also note that the chènevis is rich in iron, calcium and carotène. It is free of THC psychoactive substance found in marijuana. It is also free of saturated fats (glutenâeuros¦). It is necessary to combine several seeds to obtain a nutritional value equivalent to that of chènevis especially as it is the only grain sufficient in methionine and lysine.

Ãeuros know also that the chènevis is declined in several sizes. This seed is so appreciated by carps that they can not turn away from it. So it is preferable to dose the baiting well. This seed supplemented with boilies, pellets or tiger nuts will pack the detectors!

Preparation of the hemp seed

It is very important to use fresh hemp seeds to take full advantage of their nutritional qualities. In any case, we realize it quickly, because if the hemp seed is not fresh no seed will germinate (as for other seeds besides). As for soaking, it is necessary to count 48 H. However, it is recommended to change the water several times in order to avoid that the hemp seed goes rancid (especially when it is hot). 15 minutes of cooking is enough and it is not necessary to cook it at high temperature at the risk of destroying certain nutritive values.

Besides in seed, chènevis can be used in oil for various applications (soaking, topping, making boiliesâeuros¦). The chènevis can be ground, crushed and roasted. In this case, this coarse-grained flour can be used to make balls or to include it in a groundbait (feeder, stick mix...).

There is also the bread of chenevis which has an interesting mechanical side. Indeed, its time of dissolution is several hours. It resists the current and has an optimal diffusion (on the bottom and towards the surface).

The chènevis can be found at all retailers of fishing tackle (nearest retailer, salon, internetâeuros¦) in small or large packaging. Some offer it for sale at retail. For those who wish it, there is also on the market of the chènevis ready to use flavored or nature as Ready Seeds of Starbaits in pure version or mixed with other seeds.

Drying

It is quite possible to eschew hemp seeds, but the exercise of style is more difficult than with some seeds. For that, one of the best solutions is to use a fine mesh anti cat net in order to realize a small ball of hemp seed. Once this step is done, all presentations are possible. Think also of the maggot clip (less resistant however).

With a well mastered preparation, the chenevis is a carp magnet. It is thus necessary to have the right dosage in the baiting not to divert them completely from the rest of the baits proposed.
