The feeder is a fishing technique that can be practiced all year round. This fishing is practiced with a specific feeder rod and a reel. The final assembly is a feeder cage and a leader.
The feeder allows to fish in particular white fish, but also carps, as an alternative to the method feeder.
Feeder fishing, simple and economical
The feeder fishing remains an economic fishing. A small amount of groundbait is enough, 2 liters for one fishing trip. A few maggots, pinkies, or potting mixes to put on the tip of the hook are enough.
To fish effectively, the setup should be as simple as possible and without frills.
Accuracy required
Do not try to throw as far as possible. Make a first cast and watch for clutter in the water.
Many anglers wonder about the round accessory located on the reels. It is the clip-line. It will be useful for feeder fishing in particular. By sliding the nylon into it, it will make your cage fall in the same place and thus build your fishing stroke. Dampen your cast, and be always at the clip to be more precise.
Once these few adjustments are made, set your poles correctly. Your rod should be angled toward the bank. This way, the angle between the rod tip and the cage in the water will allow you to see your hits more clearly.
Take a fixed marker, on the bank in front or horizon, which will promote the precision of your casts. Your fishing stroke will be clean and precise. As a result, you'll catch more fish and get more hits.
Let the fish bite
Cast a dozen or so cages, before putting the rod down and fishing. Think of varying your baits, or even mixing them on your hook. A groundbait with a gozzer, a gozzer and two pinkies, a white gozzer and a red one, all tricks are to be tried.
Don't overtighten your nylon once the rod is set. The tip of the rod, slightly tilted, is enough. If you bend the tip of the rod over the holder, you will create tension in the cage and the fish may be suspicious when you touch it.
Be patient, with the feeder, the cages contain only a few baits. It is therefore necessary that the shot is made and that the fish settle. You can have the fish from the first cage or sometimes wait for long minutes to have the first touch. In any case, you must remain dynamic in the casts. Relaunch regularly your cage, give yourself a tempo every 5 to 10 minutes depending on the activity, the seasons, and the places fished.
Sometimes you have to let the rod bend a few times or even wait for the tip to bend before picking up the rod. Don't rush at the slightest tap. Let the fish bite, let the fish bite!
