Catching trophy fish
Using big swimbaits is not the ultimate solution to catch a record fish, we have all heard stories of people catching an exceptional fish with a small lure, but it is a technique that brings consistency in catching big fish.

While getting a lot of bites is fun with standard size lures and small swimbaits, catching a big fish is the goal of many sport lure anglers and for that you have to make some sacrifices. Indeed, big swimbaits allow you to make big fish react more by offering them an easily accessible meal or by acting on a territoriality attack. But for that you have to be able to make some concessions, especially concerning the number of hits and the diversity of possible catches. Indeed, where a jerkbait minnow can take a chub, an asp, a nice perch and a pike, a swimbait will probably only interest a pike and you must be ready to dedicate yourself to this specific search.
With this technique we aim at quality rather than quantity. That is to say that the average size of the fish caught is greater, to the detriment of the number of hits but it is also a positive point because it allows to greatly limit the catch of juvenile fish. It's all a question of what you want.
The search for realism and mimicry
In addition to its realistic swimming, its interest is to present a lure of natural aspect and mimetic in its form and its colors for certain models. The size of the lures allows the manufacturers to go far in the realism which, in over-fished environment or by very clear water, can make the difference. Moreover, they are non-aggressive lures. By this I mean that they do not emit any particular noise or vibration, so their appeal is visual and once again, in complicated environments this is a strong point. All this allows you to fish slowly in clear waters, perfect to annoy the most recalcitrant predators.

An addictive touch
The touch, due to the fact that you are continuously reeling in, is sudden and looks like a sudden stop which can make you think of an obstacle, but with practice, it is clearly identifiable. The power of the material does not spoil the pleasure of a good fight and it is advisable to bring back each fish, whatever its size, with moderation in order not to hurt it.
