Pike
The pike is a species that can be found almost everywhere in Quebec. There is a good density around Montreal, but the further north you go, the higher the density of large fish, so it is better to go to the north of the province if the goal of the trip is pike, with famous areas like Chibougamau.

Largemouth Bass
Largemouth bass, often called black bass in France, is a species well represented in the southern part of the province. For sure, for a specific search of the species, destinations like California and Florida are better.
However, if you live in a region of France where the species is not represented, it can be very interesting to fish for it one day in a body of water or a river where it is abundant. There can be some very nice fishing to be done.

The carp
In the late 1800's, the United States was breeding carp imported from Europe. During this period, fish were found in the rivers of North America and arrived, by this fact, in Quebec.
The population of carp is high in Quebec, and their fishing is almost non-existent. There are a few fly fishermen who do it, as well as a few carp fishermen, but this last technique is only beginning to appear on the shelves of fishing stores.

The tench
I was surprised to discover that the tench is one of the species found in Quebec waters. Its appearance in Quebec is recent and probably results from a strain illegally imported from Germany in 1986.
Today, it is an abundant fish, especially in the Richelieu river, which would be its place of introduction, and in the St-Laurent river.

However, the tench is considered a nuisance and it is theoretically forbidden to release it back into the water. Nevertheless, their abundance and the sizes they reach here deserve to be studied a little more.
And the others
There are other species of fish common between France and Quebec. Among them, we find the fario trout, called common trout, the cristivomer, known here as grey trout or the sun perch.
