Carp fishing, how to use flours efficiently ?

The flours are formidable for carp fishing. They are ideal for making baits, coating pastes, sticks and coating "crusts". Let's discover together how to use them.

Flours allow to create long-lasting attraction zones. Indeed, they perfectly mark the bottom and the water layers. Depending on the application, you can create very large or very precise baiting zones. Let's take a look at some of the more common methods.

The primer

It is a combination of different flours that will allow you to agglomerate different baits such as pellets, seeds, crushed boiliesâ?¦ Most of the time, this groundbait is wetted with water and liquid additives in order to have an important attractive power while easily making throwable balls thanks to a sling among others.

You can make your own baits or buy ready-made mixes. The groundbait allows you to bait a more or less large area. It must be easily compacted to be launched while having an easy work at the bottom of the water (decompacting and diffusion). You must have in mind the desired effect to make the right choices.

The coating paste

A combination of flours used to make a paste that will hold easily on a sinker or to coat its bait. Often, these pastes are made from a mix (base of the boilies). This mix can be wet with water, liquid additives or with eggs for an even greater holding (in summer in particular).

These coating pastes can be colored in order to increase the visual attraction and can be complemented with micro pellets such as Bagging Pellets. These coating pastes have a strong sticking power.

The stick

The stick is a combination of flours compacted in a press (stick that comes out pierced to be threaded on the leader) or compacted inside a soluble net to be hooked to your rig. The flours must be subtly wetted, most of the time with liquid additives, so that the stick explodes quite quickly once your soluble net is melted.

Thus, you get a flour mat positioned exactly under your bait. A precision olfacto-gustatory weapon. Here again you can color the stick as you wish according to the flours and additives used. The Method and Stick from Starbaits is perfect for this.

The "crusting

The base is often the same as the coating paste. This dry mix will be sprinkled on boilies or pellets lightly moistened beforehand with a liquid additive. Be careful to have the right dosage to slightly moisten and not soak your baits! You can repeat this process several times. You will then obtain a crust around your boilies or pellets.

Once in the water, this crust will then form a mat over time. In short, baits with a double diffusion. Here again, the Method and Stick Mix can be your ally if you don't want to make your own mix.
