Pro-Staff / Pierro Daenes: "Proud to have the opportunity to grow and share my passion"

Pierro Daenes is a Lowrance brand ambassador. An avid sea angler, Pierro mainly fishes in kayaks, his preferred method of fishing.

Hello Pierro, could you introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi, let me introduce myself, I'm 37 years old, I live in the English Channel, 10 minutes from the sea, where I go fishing whenever I can in different ways.

Can you tell us about your early days in fishing?

From an early age, I followed in the footsteps of my grandparents, uncles and father, who taught me the ropes of fishing. In the early days, I discovered boat fishing and surfcasting at sea, spearfishing in the river and a variety of fishing on the pontoons of Les Sables-d'Olonne. Over the years, I've broadened my fishing experience, fishing for whitefish and carp in ponds, trout in streams, doing a bit of fly-fishing, discovering black bass at Pescalis, underwater hunting in all kinds of ways, even paddling.

And for over ten years now, I've been kayaking, my preferred form of sea fishing. My passion for fishing is undeniable, and I could spend hours without stopping...

When, how and why did you agree to become a Pro-Staff?

I'm going to tell you my anecdote now, which is why I've been a Lowrance ambassador for 2 years now!

One day in April 2023, I won two tickets for the Fish trophy on display in Brittany. I then got in touch with Nicolas Zaorski, in charge of communications for the Lowrance brand. We quickly got talking and exchanged ideas about the brand and our fishing. Nicolas noticed that I'd been interested in the brand since I started out. In fact, I've always used Lowrance gps fishfinders, because they're so easy to use and intuitive. And so, when I'm out and about, I find that the ease of evolving with these GPS units saves us a lot of time. As for the depth sounder, it helps me to understand the nature of the seabed and the presence of fish or reefs. On the sporting side, they have also enabled me to take some good places in kayak competitions.

As for the rest of our exchange, Nicolas offered to do some photo feedback and also to show and promote the brand during my outings and competitions. Naturally, I accepted the offer like a childhood dream.

What does being an ambassador mean to you?

I'm proud to have the opportunity to evolve and share my passion through a major marine electronics brand. For the moment, I'm not doing much content due to ongoing projects, but I try even outside the networks to continue to guide beginners and more seasoned enthusiasts alike in their interest in the brand.

Once I'm more available, I intend to get more involved and make the most of my role as ambassador. For me, being an ambassador means being able to help out locally and more widely via friendly contacts and meetings at competitions. I'd also like to share images of soundings with good shots, to give an idea of what happened at the time, to help or confirm to anglers the different possible readings of their products.

What do you think of fishing in France?

My view of fishing today is positive, in the sense that awareness of the need to preserve resources and environments is growing. There's still a lot to be done, but the evolution and exchange of good fishing practices and techniques is growing. Now it's up to everyone to choose the right path for the future of our passion. The networks can sometimes give rise to an outburst of criticism and jealousy that people shouldn't respond to.

Any advice for anglers who want to join a Pro-Staff team one day?

In my opinion, a good angler must remain humble, and show a well-groomed image if he doesn't want to arouse covetousness. As far as I'm concerned, an angler who wants to join a team or become an ambassador should have a good deal of experience in certain areas, with the techniques to match!

He or she must enjoy interacting with people, which is the key to a close-knit team! Knowledge of potential fishing areas is a plus, so you can try to evolve in different circumstances. It's important not to overdo things, but to concentrate on giving your best. Sometimes, I think you have to give things time, if they're going to happen on their own, that's good. If you already have a well-structured network with plenty of content, why not make a spontaneous request?

In any case, I can't wait to show you how much I care, and to continue bringing you more content in the future. See you soon on the water or on the networks.
