Pro-Staff / Alex Herranz: "The world of fishing is a healthy thing"

Alex Herranz is Fiiish brand ambassador in Spain. Passionate about sea fishing, Alex likes to fish for different predators.

can you introduce yourself to the readers ?

25 years old, located in the north of Spain, more specifically in Bilbao (Basque Country). The most frequented areas may be the estuaries, where you can breathe more peace and tranquility, apart from the difficulty of feeding the sea bass in our area. Although rocky areas do not go unnoticed by my mind, you also have to put them in, and never better said. As for the most used equipment, I always tend to go very light, it's the most enjoyable and the most active fishing for my taste. With this there is the facility to practice rockfishing or light spinning, although lately the weigthless calls me a lot.

can you tell us about your beginnings in fishing?

Beginnings, with my father, of course, going anywhere there was water, whether it was sea or reservoir. From fishing for perch and black-basses to picking up surfcasting rods in the sea. Little by little the knowledge of rockfishing came, which with the Fiiish vinyls becomes much easier.

when, how and why did you accept to be Pro-Staff?

I think it can be a good way to make yourself known, and learn more about fishing, but in a different way. Almost 2 years being a Pro-Staff, how fast time goes by.

and how did you learn about the brand?

My brother Arkaitz was the first one to introduce a Fiiish vinyl in the backpack, at least 10 years ago. At that time, I didn't know of its existence, but seeing that after a few days it gave a lot of results, we changed the chip and I knew what I had to fish with from then on.

Being an ambassador, what does that mean to you?

From my point of view, being an ambassador means representing and promoting the values, products and services of that brand in an authentic and positive way. It also means wanting to set a good example for the brand's followers and help increase its visibility and reputation in the marketplace. It also means being an advocate for the brand's products or services, as well as establishing a genuine connection with the audience to promote trust and loyalty to the brand.

your best memory, or an anecdote, as a Pro-Staff to share with our readers?

Without having the rod in hand, for example, a talk about the brand that took place in Getxo (Bilbao) in 2023, where not only the spectators learned, but we Pro-Staff too, seeing a wide range of products and/or fishing techniques related to the brand.

how do you see fishing in Spain?

As for Spain, there is movement, but in my opinion, from conversations with friends and other people, there should be more movement of fish outside the peninsula, although there are different colors to suit different tastes.

and how do you see it in the fishing world in general?

The world of fishing is something healthy, very passionate and simply incredible. Every day we learn something new and the day never comes when we know everything from "pe to pa". Just when you think you have it all under control, the fish or the sea break all your schemes.

any advice for anglers who someday want to join a Pro-Staff team?

It's not enough just to know how to fish, you also have to be interested in learning, knowing how to inform, help... potential clients. But it is a beautiful experience that you can take with you for life.
