Pro-Staff / Marie Jacob: "A small responsibility to be part of the image of these brands"

Pro-Staff #63 -Marie Jacob is an ambassador for the Daiwa and Kuruk brands. She discovered fishing quite late in life and quickly developed a passion for freshwater lure fishing for predators. Marie dares to step out of her comfort zone to share her passion.

Hello Marie, could you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Marie, I'm 32 years old. I fish for predators with lures, mainly in freshwater, from the shore or in a float tube.

Can you tell us about your early days in fishing?

I started fishing over 6 years ago. I went with friends, enjoyed it and fell in love with it, which I now share with my family.

When, how and why did you agree to become a Pro-Staff?

I've been a Daiwa field tester for two years and a Kuruk ambassador for three. Two brands that I adopted when I first started fishing, and which then gave me the chance to join their Team.

I quickly fell into the social networking game, sharing my catches and fishing sessions on Instagram or Facebook. I would also show the brands I used and explain why.

These brands contacted me and I accepted their proposal for the challenge and the new objectives it would create in my fishing life.

What does being an ambassador mean to you?

Being a field tester and ambassador means a lot to me. It's like a small responsibility to be part of the image of these brands, to promote them, to know the different ranges, to be able to talk about them to other anglers, etc... But I've been lucky enough to join two teams that I've always loved, so I do it with heart and passion, without any feeling of constraint.

What's your fondest memory or anecdote from your time as a Pro-Staff?

My favorite moments are those when I meet up with the other members of the Team at various events: trade shows, fishing sessions, film shoots, etc... I love the fact that we can meet up in "real life", that we can share all these moments and forget about the superficiality of social networks.

What do you think of fishing in France?

We're lucky to be in a magnificent country, both in terms of its landscapes and nature itself. I find that fishing is different in every region. Over a weekend or a vacation, you can learn more, discover and rediscover. You also have to adapt to the regulations, which change depending on the department or location, and fishing isn't always easy, but I find this diversity very enriching... To enjoy it, you just have to get out of your comfort zone and move around a bit.

Any advice for anglers who would like to join a Pro-Staff team one day?

To those who'd like to join a Team, I'd like to say that you mustn't forget that it's still just fishing, and that you have to go for it because you want to, because you're passionate about it, and because you enjoy spending time on the water. Being part of a team is very rewarding, but it also requires personal investment. You have to do it for pleasure, and I think personally, for a brand that inspires and pleases you.
