Led by Eric DESPALIN and Antoine LEGGERI, France won the street fishing world championship held on October 26 and 27 in Peschiera del Garda, south of Lake Garda in Italy. This was the third edition of the FIPSED street fishing world championship, which brought together 13 nations from all over Europe, including the USA.
Very difficult fishing
However, the scouting and prefishing did not augur well. Numerous bouts of bad weather and extensive scouting have completely stalled the fish. The water is high in the varied area, which includes moats, lake shores, bridge piers, marinas... However, it's hard to catch any mesh fish, whether chub, perch, black-bass or pike, which are the four species counted.

Some nations have been on site for more than a week, and sectors have been overfished.
But we'll have to make do, and the French, with their wealth of experience, are not giving up hope.
The ranking is based on points. First place earns 1 point, second place 2 points... The aim is to accumulate as few points as possible over the two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
An unexpected result
The VERGER/JEANSON duo did remarkably well in this game, winning the bronze medal in the individual category, despite a capot on Saturday (a general capot on their sector, the A, on Saturday!). They were followed by the SEGUIN/CALU pair, who had the merit of catching one fish on Saturday and one on Sunday, including one of the very few perch, a real small feat.
In the individual competition, England's Ben SHARP and Nick WILSON took the title, catching black bass in the moat on Saturday and another black bass on Sunday. They were followed by Dutchmen Johannes ELZINGA and Bart VAN DE WALLE, who, among other things, caught the only mesh pike of the competition.

In the end, on the strength of these good results, France snatched its first gold medal in a "lure fishing" category. A milestone for the FFPS Carnassier. England came second, with the Dutch rounding out the podium.
See you in 2025 in the United States, this time to defend our title!
Only 28 mesh fish were counted, 1 pike, 5 perch, 2 chub and the rest black bass.
