Championnat de France Street Fishing 2024 FFPS: second round in Tours

After a fine round in Verdun before the summer, the competitors met up again in Tours, on the banks of the Cher river, to battle it out once again... A date full of twists and turns...

The second round of the French Street Fishing Championship took place this Sunday, September 8, 2024. UPC16 took over the organization of this event, and we'd like to thank them again!

Asp, chub, pike or perch: which option is right for you?

20 teams took part. Echoes from locals and competitors who took part in prefishing reported that the perch were very difficult to lure... Asp, chub and pike, on the other hand, seem to be very active... The options are numerous and risky on these beautiful and often capricious fish...

The start is given at 7:30 a.m., and the competitors all set off towards the downstream end of the sector. The VERGER/JEANSSON duo took first place by a wide margin. Their choice to fish the Petit Cher proved more than judicious, with a solid catch of chub. Perch, pike and asp completed their quota.

VERGER/JEANSSO were on a roll in every sense of the word in this second round of Tours.

Behind them, we find pairs less accustomed to podium finishes, but with fine fishing (MIREBAULT/FOURMESTREAUX and URGEN/MAYHOUB respectively 2nd and 3rd) having made a successful gamble on the aspe. With the big fish on the menu, the rankings changed rapidly in both directions.

VIDEAUD/BINET and SEGUIN BONTEMPELLI cleanly save the day on perch and asp. Both pairs remain in contention for the title and the final podium.

Favourites out of the running?

This seems to be in jeopardy for the CALU/GASNIER duo (14th), who once again underachieved, suffering from a complete lack of success, with fish caught in the last hour and a half by many other pairs. The pair, 4th in 2023, landed an asp of around 60 cm in the dense weed beds, a perch and a pike... And still can't get out of the crisis.

Dommage pour le duo CALU/GASNIER auteur une nouvelle fois d'une contre performance notoire
Too bad for the CALU/GASNIER duo, who once again put in a notorious counter-performance.

The ROJO-DIAZ/FOURCADE duo (18th), like the LEGGERI/DREVET pairing (17th), are also making their mark.

malgré un beau brochet, cela ne suffit pas pour LEGGERI/DREVET.
Despite a fine pike, it wasn't enough for LEGGERI/DREVET.

Chub were mostly lured with blackberry, insect or microjig imitations. The asps were lured with lipless minnows and casting jigs for the most part. The rankings changed very quickly, with the slightest fish changing the game. You had to be attentive and not miss any bites to rank well in this particular round.
