Ille-et-Vilaine confluence
The capital of the Ille-et-Vilaine département, Rennes lies at the confluence of the Ille and Vilaine rivers.
It is the largest city in the Brittany region.
The rivers here are highly canalized, lined with high quays, and the Vilaine even passes through a tunnel.

Numerous bridges, weirs and arms offer key points to explore on this highly urban and well-developed route.
A number of barges are parked along the Quai Saint-Cyr, also making them ideal berths.
The best fishing spots
The downstream weirs (Moulin du Comte lock next to Roazhon Park stadium and the one further upstream at university level) are home to numerous perch, even when the water is warm and fishing tricky.
Upstream of the Moulin du Comte lock is very interesting for pike fishing.
An urban, landscaped trail
The course is very urban and well laid out. Good sneakers and a long landing net handle (or telescopic handle) are all you need to enjoy the area.
The city is very student-oriented, with plenty of places to have a drink or a snack.
Cider and crêpes are already easy to find between two poles. Street fishing atmosphere guaranteed.
Species to look for
Perch (average 25 cm), pike and pike-perch frequent the course.
Which techniques to choose?
The drop shot allows you to fish slowly in marked areas such as weirs and bridge piers without getting too hung up. Minnows, spinnerbaits and lipless are ideal for catching pike, whose average size is between 50 and 80 cm!

Small 2-inch white drop-shot shads are effective for perch, and spinnerbaits for pike. Don't hesitate to fish big on the course, where pike are not much in demand.
How to fish?
The course offers numerous structures and is made up of docks along almost its entire length. You'll need to fish the quay footings and bridge piers methodically.

On the other hand, you can let loose with a lipless type of exploratory fishing to discover the full potential of the course. Don't mix the two types of fishing, or you risk not having the right dynamic to find active fish and fish in ambush...
