The Gaspé Peninsula is a great place to fish for striped bass, a fish that has the same behavior as the European bass, but that can reach much larger sizes. I take you to meet this wonderful fish through a series of articles.
With travel conditions still uncertain, I took the easy way out and decided to return to the Gaspé Peninsula. A region of Quebec located on the Atlantic coast, where it is possible to fish for striped bass and Atlantic salmon. Since I arrived at the end of the morning, when the tide was low, I had only the end of the day tide left to hope to catch some bass. The Gaspé Peninsula, a region of Quebec ideal for fishing!
The rocky overhangs often allow you to get much farther out than if you stayed on the edge, and thus allow you to fish in deeper water. Moreover, their constitution, composed of large rocks, provides a refuge appreciated by insects, several shellfish, snails, crabs and the whole food chain that follows, with small fish, and predators, including striped bass!
If the bottom around this peak is also made of rock, the area is very promising for sea bass fishing. On the other hand, if the bottom is made up of sand, a situation that is more likely to be encountered with artificial overhangs, such as dykes, then this one is less interesting to explore, because the vegetation does not hold on to it, and therefore the whole food chain described earlier might not be present.

Explore the rocks
To fish this type of spot, the best is to use soft lures, shad or slug type, mounted on lead heads. This allows to look for the bass in depth, where they hold, and to better follow the relief.
Difficult access
However, even if these posts are always interesting to explore, they are dangerous to access and it takes time to get there, as you have to move carefully from rock to rock. That's why I always prefer these spots on complicated days, when the fish are not on the beach, or when I want to catch a fish for sure! It's a bit like saving myself.

For this first day, I benefited from a moment of madness with the presence of many fish on the area and I took advantage of it until the night. The concern is that this kind of place is like a poker game, it can be the festival of touch, as the most total desert. And in this second case, it is necessary to quickly prospect elsewhere not to miss the fishing.
