In summer, you can fish for sea bass with your freshwater lures

When stalking a new species, and even more so in a new environment, we tend to question our usual lures. However, it's perfectly possible to successfully fish for bass with lures designed for freshwater.

On vacation by the sea for a few weeks, you'd like to take on Sir Labrax and you're convinced that you'll have to invest in new lures and rebuild your tackle box. While some of them, particularly in terms of color, may be better suited to the environment you'll be fishing, your usual lures will do just fine!

Vos leurres durs habituels, stickbaits et jerkbaits notamment vous permettront de capturer des bars cet été.
Your usual hard lures, stickbaits and jerkbaits in particular, will help you catch bass this summer.

A carnivore like no other

Sea bass, like pike, perch, tuna and many other species, are predators. This implies that they react to similar stimuli and that the vast majority of actions, vibrations or sounds can make them go on the attack. While the presentation and evolution of a lure can be decisive in catching certain species, it is unlikely that certain vibrations and types of lure will be prohibitive. So your lures for pike or black bass will be perfect for sea fishing and vice versa!

Nothing looks more like a crab than a craw... Bars love it!

Greater variety

The strength of lures designed for water is diversity! In fact, the families found in anglers' boxes and stores are far more numerous and varied than those designed for marine species. You'll find a wide variety of metal lures, swimming fish in a variety of shapes and actions, and softbaits as strange as they are different! A craw, for example, perfectly imitates a crayfish, but also a crab! A spinnerbait symbolizes a shoal of small fish, whether bleak or sprat etc...

For bass, like pike, all lures work, from the surface to the bottom! Your swimbaits, chatterbaits or lipless will help you succeed this summer without spending a single euro.

The surprise effect

Another reason why freshwater lures work so well for sea bass is that they are rarely used. And in a context of ever-increasing fishing pressure, presenting them with something unknown or rare can give you a head start!

The limits

I should say the limit... The only one I can see is the reduced casting distance of certain families, and I'm thinking in particular of spinnerbaits! Indeed, when you need to prospect large areas or fish far from the shore, this criterion can quickly become essential when choosing your lure.

Surtout avec les leurres métalliques, le rinçage est impératif !
Especially with metal lures, rinsing is a must!

Rinsing imperative!

Our freshwater lures are rarely fitted with rustproof hooks or split rings. So, a rigorous rinse after each outing is imperative if you hope they'll make it through the summer and bite a few black bass again in September.
