Mercury Fishing Cup 2025 moves to Lac de Saint-Pardoux

A major change has just been announced concerning the Mercury Fishing Cup 2025: the competition, originally scheduled for November 9 and 10 on Lac de Vassivière, has been moved to Lac de Saint-Pardoux.

A programmed drop in water level

This transfer is due to a scheduled drop in the water level at Vassivière (minimum 3 meters) due to imperative work on the EDF dam valves, compounded by the risk of an additional drawdown for the Civaux power plant. This situation makes safe and equitable organization impossible.

"This drop in water level, added to the risk of an additional drop due to the need for water to cool the Civaux nuclear power plant, makes it too risky to stage the competition at Vassivière for several reasons:

  • impossible to beach boats on Auphelle beach,
  • insufficient pontoon space,
  • only one launching ramp remains usable,
  • dangerous navigation conditions (shoals and artificial reefs that are dangerous without consistent buoyage)."

New location

The new location at Saint-Pardoux, around 1h15 from Vassivière, guarantees competitors safety and a quality welcome, with specific logistical information to follow (launches, parking, accommodation). The dates remain unchanged (November 9 and 10, 2025), and the organizers will shortly be providing you with all the logistical information (launches, parking areas, accommodation available around Lac de Saint-Pardoux).

The organizers would like to stress that this decision was taken under technical constraints, with the sole aim of ensuring the smooth running of the event and the safety of all concerned. Despite this change, the Mercury Fishing Cup retains its prestige and is still set to be the major fishing event in France in autumn 2025.
