Grand Pavois Fishing : Martial Montembault from Team Way Of Fishing

Martial Montembault is the proud father of a son with whom he shares his passion for fishing. A member of Team Way Of Fishing, Martial enjoys competing against the best anglers at Grand Pavois Fishing.

Hello Martial, can you introduce yourself to Fishing.news readers?

Hello, my name is Martial Montembault. I'm 41 years old and I work for Team Way Of Fishing, which sells fishing tackle such as Majorcraft, Keitech, Zenaq, Zerek, Bone, Fishup, Varivas and many other brands. I mainly enjoy fishing with their soft tackle, close to rocks and rock heads, in slow or fast lines, or on the surface over parks. I'm lucky enough to be able to fish on a magnificent Tiger Marine 650 Open Fishing boat powered by a 130hp Hidea engine and well equipped for fishing.

Can you tell us about your early days in fishing?

I've been fishing since I was a child, and my father passed the virus on to me. I share it with my 9-year-old son, who loves fishing just as much as I do. My fishing area is the Gulf of Morbihan, the islands of Houat and Hoedic and Belle-Île-en-Mer.

When, how and why did you decide to take up competitive fishing?

I've decided to develop and improve even further, and I think that competition, in addition to sharing with other enthusiasts, enables you to learn new fishing techniques very quickly.

What did taking part in Grand Pavois Fishing mean to you?

For me, the Grand Pavois Fishing is the biggest competition where you can meet the best teams and their best boats. It's a great opportunity to meet the best competitors and some of the biggest names in fishing.

Looking back on your last edition, and will you be there this year?

My last participation in the Grand Pavois Fishing was in 2022, when the weather was really bad, and even the fallback area was impassable. The competition was cancelled for safety reasons. This gave me the chance to spend some time with fishing friends, and to go round the stands and meet professionals such as Mr Charles, representative of Boatsdistribution, the company in charge of importing Tiger Marine semi-rigid boats for France, who made this superb boat available to me to take part in this year's Grand Pavois, accompanied by Nicolas Jeanne and Jamick Baude, sea anglers from the Way Of Fishing team, who are just as keen on fishing as I am.

I hope to be present at this show for many years to come, representing my sponsors who are supporting me throughout the coming year.

Any advice for anglers who would like to take part in Grand Pavois Fishing one day?

My advice to anglers who want to take part in this great event would be to believe in their dreams and continue to enjoy themselves in order to progress and, at the same time, get noticed by fishing teams.
