Sasuke 120
The Sasuke 120 is a jerkbait minnow from Ima that doesn't have a transparent lip like most lures in this family. Instead, the lip is molded directly onto the lure's hull, painted in the same color as the lure itself, and is one with its body.
This feature gives the lure a very curved head shape, enabling it to dive rapidly to a depth of around 80 centimetres. As a result, it starts fishing at the slightest touch, holds up well in the current and can withstand both low and high retrieve speeds, making it a versatile lure.
This construction also gives the lure a certain extra strength at the front. This means you can fish rocky areas without weakening the lip, which is often the weak point on this type of lure.
Its swimming action consists of a tight wiggle of the rear section, while its head remains fixed, pointing downwards.
As always with Ima, the original treble hooks and split rings are well sized and of good quality. For your information, they can be replaced by 2/0 size singles so that the lure retains the same properties.
Using this jerkbait minnow
Originally designed for sea bass fishing, the Sasuke 120 is a good jerkbait minnow that can also be used in freshwater, particularly for asp fishing in medium-depth areas. It can also be used for pike, snook, payara and other carnivorous species weighing around ten kilograms.
My opinion
The Sasuke 120 is a lure I know very well, from the days when it was distributed by Sakura, over ten years ago. It's good news to see it back on the shelves, particularly because of the ease with which it dives, despite being a floating lure. This makes it ideal for fishing rocky areas or sandy beaches, while letting it rise to the surface at the slightest hitch.
The Sasuke is a great classic from the Ima brand. In its country of origin, it comes in many sizes, such as 50, 75, 95 or 130 millimeters, and seeing it reappear on French shelves gives us hope that over the years the choice on offer will increase.
