Chappy 100
The Chappy 100 is a surface stickbait, and the first thing you notice is how solid the lure is. As usual, the Ima brand offers a solid lure, with a color that holds up well over time, and a quality armament - too much so!
Yes, it may seem out of place to say that hooks are too good, but it's true - well, it depends on the species you're targeting! For bass, barracuda, snaper, payara or pike, they're perfect and won't open!
On the other hand, and this is a rare thing, as original hooks are often modified for stronger ones, when fishing for fragile freshwater fish such as perch and asp, I recommend reducing the strength of the hooks, for example by switching to size 2 single hooks.
The lure launches well, executing a pronounced walking the dog. The square nose of the lure produces bubbles and splashes when animated quickly, which can be a trigger, especially for bass.
The strength of the Chappy 100, and of Ima in general, is the relevance of the colors offered. The color chart for this lure has only seven colors, but that's quite enough, especially since it includes a color that's just perfect, and so rare to find on a surface stickbait: chartreuse!
The combination of surface stickbait + chartreuse alone means that this lure should be found in many a tackle box!
The other colors offered are more sea-fishing oriented, with natural colors such as imitation sardines and mullets.
Use
In freshwater, many species are likely to succumb to the Chappy 100, such as pike, black-bass, asp and perch. In the sea, it is designed for sea bass, which is what it was created for.
Its sturdiness means it can be taken abroad to catch most fish up to ten kilograms.
My opinion
Even if there's not much left to invent in the way of floating stickbaits, the Chappy 100 stands out for its very solid construction for a 10-centimetre lure, its perfect swimming action, its ability to be cast far, the quality of the hooks and the relevance of the colors on offer.
As far as colors are concerned, I particularly recommend the 005 and 006, which, with just two lures, cover the vast majority of conditions encountered.
Color 006, chartreuse, not a common color, yet so effective, is to be used at sunrise and sunset, in cloudy water or on a cloudy day. Color 005, natural, is for use in clear water during the day.
