Carp fishing with dough, an approach that gets results

Carp in warmer waters are more active. The paste is simply a flour, with a wetting agent that allows it to hold on to the hook. The float used has the particularity of having a very large antenna to better see the bite.

When the water is still warm

The fine season continues. Carp are still active. They respond more to baits and food falling into the water. To the different sounds of pellets or seeds. But also to the different particles diffusing in the water.

This is a time when certain techniques can come out of the closet. Dynamic pellet waggler fishing, surface maggot fishing, but also paste fishing.

Flour fishing

Paste fishing is nothing more and nothing less than fishing with flour. It's a groundbait-type meal composed mainly of fishmeal and finely ground pellets.

Wetting should be done sparingly. The texture formed should be a paste. It should be easy to shape, so as to hold the hook when fishing.

The right equipment

The hook used is a little different from the one selected for classic corn, extruded or expander fishing. Its opening is a little wider. We often use a larger hook size. In general, for classic fishing, I use a size 14 hook (kamasan 911 type); for paste fishing, I use a size 10 hook from the same series.

The float used has the particularity of having a longer antenna.

The sounding is flush with the body of the float. The size of the antenna will allow you to target the right moment to take the hit.

Correct key detection

The bite is repeated several times. The carp repeatedly sucks in and spits out the paste. This allows the carp to adjust its diameter. The float is tensioned several times, sinking slightly and moving. It's when you get a clean, direct hit that you need to hook.

Finding the right tempo to strike at the right moment. Fishing full of adrenalin, knowing that the bite is going to go, that the fish is underneath.

If you take the touch too quickly, you'll be striking in a vacuum. The paste will come off and you'll have to put it back on and start all over again with more patience.

To fish with paste, we use a micro cup. This is clipped onto the end of the tip. It allows you to place the hook with the paste on it, right up to the fishing stroke. On the other hand, a few pellets can be placed on top. So, once you've set the strands at the desired fishing distance, all you have to do is tilt the micro-cup. The pellets will fall out, followed by the baited hook, which will be perfectly positioned on the fishing line.
