Carp fishing: how to make a Multi Rig leader?

For carp fishing, there's a plethora of different leaders to choose from. This can be confusing for beginners, but also for experienced anglers, who often have to think twice. Many are mounted on a "D" (shape given along the shank). Among these, the Multi Rig offers many advantages.

The Multi Rig is a quick and easy leader to make. It can cope with a wide range of situations, and can be used to bait dense, balanced or floating baits. Its mechanism allows a certain amount of freedom (and therefore better pivoting) of the bait/hook assembly due to the stripping of the front loop; the latter, on the other hand, increases the aggressiveness of the hook thanks to its rigidity (during suction/expulsion). And during the fight, the loop rises towards the eye. This makes it impossible for the fish to "lean" on the bait to unhook.

Personally, I prefer the floating version. In my opinion, it's more efficient in this configuration. This Multi Rig has the enormous advantage of being able to change hooks in a matter of seconds without touching a millimetre of the sheathed braid. How many leaders have been thrown away because of a dull hook when the braid was intact? This considerable advantage also means you can change the size and shape of the hook at will to suit the bait you've chosen or any other constraint.

1) Take your Power Hook SLK Chod hook (or any other Power Hook SLK of your choice, but I prefer the one mentioned), X Wrap Soft braid, a Mini Ring Swivel, a small sinker, Lead Paste, Multi Beads or Rubber Sleeve and Hair Braid.

2) After cutting the desired length of X Wrap Soft, make a loop slightly larger than the hook.

3) Pass the loop through the inside of the eyelet.

4) Pass the loop through the ring of the mini swivel, then tuck the hook into the loop.

5) Strip a centimetre before the loop, then pinch a small lead.

6) Mix lead paste on the small lead.

7) Make a small loop at the end with a figure-of-eight knot and insert a Multi Bead, which can be threaded onto a Universal Clip, for example.

8) Pass some Hair Braid through the mini swivel to act as a hair.

Tip: you can replace the mini swivel with a simple ring and use a rubber band if you prefer.

9) Eschech by inserting the mini swivel into the bait (up to the ring) then put a stop while tying the Hair Braid. Ready to catch!

In short, the Multi Rig is an easy-to-use, strong and versatile leader. What's more, it requires very few components to make. In my opinion, this makes it all the more discreet. There's no doubt that it will do you proud, especially when you want to save time. Your responsiveness will be all the better, coupled with flawless reliability!
