Although boilies are rather resistant baits, they are not always sufficiently so. In many situations, it is essential to protect our baits so that they can withstand many hours of attack by crayfish, catfish, whitefish, etc., which can completely destroy our baits until they disappear altogether. How do you go about it?
The best way to shield your baits is to use heat-shrink tubing that conforms to your boilie (dense, balanced or pop-up) while leaving enough uncovered space for good diffusion.

Here are the steps:
- Equip yourself with Boilie Guard Large or Small

- Choose the right boilie

- Cut a length of sheath equal to the diameter of your boilie

- Insert your boilie into the sheath

- Drill the sheath/spout assembly

- Boil water

- Plunge (approx. 2 seconds) into boiling water

- Your boilies are protected

I much prefer shrinking with boiling water to shrinking with a flame (lighter, small flashlight, etc.), which is far too aggressive for me, not only on your boilie but also on the sheath. Handling is therefore more delicate in this case and the result is often less clean. And as far as nets are concerned, they remain ineffective against the claws of crayfish or other catfish ... which sooner or later manage to get the bait through the mesh.

A final word of advice: for a flawless fit, always try to eschew in the direction of the plastic and not by the uncovered part!
