Salon plein air
To be more precise, the exact name of the show visited is: Salon plein air, chasse, pêche et camping de Saint-Hyacinthe, but in our case, it's mainly the fishing section that interests us!

The equipment
When it comes to fishing tackle, there are two main types of stand.
The first involves local stores, both physical and online, who will be selling products from their business, with different offers reserved for the show.

The second type is more specific, with equipment manufacturers and distributors. Here, too, we find mostly local companies, with rod assemblers, lure designers and clothing brands.

In terms of clothing, we come across Hooké, which is not totally unknown in France, as well as the Akwatix brand, which is a discovery for me. It's a brand of clothing directly inspired by the fish and landscapes of Quebec, with motifs representing pike, walleye or black bass.

In France, we often find national distributors presenting their new products, but not here, probably because this is a "small" show, or because Canada is huge, and the logistics of attending a show are much more complicated.
Stays
Between the equipment stands are stands run by outfitters and travel agencies. These present the destinations and services they offer, mainly in Quebec, but also in Ontario, and one even in Costa Rica.

Entertainment
In terms of activities, there were workshops for children, focusing on games and discovery, as well as conferences. Some of this year's conference topics included walleye and black-bass fishing, with good advice from divilgués.

The boats
When you say fishing, you also say boats, and so we find the local players in the field.

At the show, you can see boats and kayaks, as well as associated electronics such as echo sounders.

Campsite
There's also a camping section at the show, which is particularly worthwhile, because if you want to venture into the remote areas of northern France, you need the right equipment.

Whether it's vehicles, accommodation or amenities, there are a number of local companies offering a variety of solutions to get you to even the most remote locations.

Fishing in Quebec is not totally understood in the same way as in France, and this is clearly felt at a show like this. The emphasis is on big equipment, like boats, and less on fishing tackle as such, like rods or lures.
