The fun side of kayaking
Personally, at this show, I was more interested in the fun side of these kayaks. Summer is just around the corner, and it's easy to go kayaking with these fishing machines. As a matter of fact, I often find myself, during a summer session and when I'm on a beautiful spot like the Abers, putting the rods back in the rack and going for a spin around the uncovered pebbles.
In fact, these kayaks have enough carrying capacity to fit a small clic clac tent and a few provisions for a self-sufficient night under the stars.

The kayaks used for these outings come in different shapes and with different propulsion systems. Paddle, pedal propeller, stepper or even various small motors, powered by lithium batteries, which considerably increase the distance you cover on the water, without tiring you out. These small motors are the latest trend, and one that's gaining ground among distributors everywhere.
Central motors, rear motors, the choice is endless. Personally, I prefer the central motor, which slips into the existing well. Lighter and less cumbersome, it's a real advantage.
Different models

At the show, several distributors met these criteria, presenting models for both fishing and touring.
On the Galaxykayaks stand, central propulsion motors and lithium batteries were on display in the spotlight. Reliable and lightweight, these kits are very compact, weighing in at around ten kilos. The brand also offers isothermal backpack-type bags, designed to be installed on these floats.
So you'll find solo kayaks, with more than enough carrying capacity to fit everything you need for a day's or weekend's outing. They also make duo kayaks, which can also be motorized, making navigation safer and more comfortable.

At the Proust sailing stand in La Rochelle, in the touring/walking segment, I was able to try out the famous Pike boards. Inflatable kayaks with multiple engines. These inflatable kayaks are very interesting for those who don't have much room for winter storage. Once folded up, they're very compact, easy to store and easy to transport in their backpack-style bags. On the water, it's very stable and very pleasant. Here too, there are solos and duos. To carry hiking gear, you'll need to add watertight bags or canisters, as this type of float does not, of course, have storage hatches.

In addition to floats, I was also impressed by the Swiss brand Swisskings, which offers roof tents that transform any vehicle into an adventure-ready vehicle, with maximum comfort. They also offer a whole range of folding accessories such as seats and tables. It's all part and parcel of the spirit of independent, free-roaming/hiking.
