Cancellation of the National Fishing Festival in Nantes in 2026

The second edition of the Festival National de la Pêche (National Fishing Festival), scheduled to take place in Nantes on April 17, 18 and 19, 2026, at the Parc des Expositions de la Beaujoire, has been cancelled!

A surprise announcement

The organizers of the National Fishing Festival announced the sad news on social networks:

" Many of you have made the Festival National de la Pêche 2025 a moment of sharing and passion, and we sincerely thank you for it.

In order to maintain this momentum and prepare for the future in the best possible conditions, the Festival will not be held in 2026. We are already working on the next stage of the event.

Thank you for your support and passion.

See you soon to continue sharing our common passion. "

A press release that has left all fishing enthusiasts baffled. No indication as to the reason for this ridiculous decision... We'll try to find out more from the organizers as soon as possible. In any case, a sad decision for all anglers in need of a show.

And yet the first edition was a success?

The event was organized by GIFAP (Groupement de l'Industrie Française d'Articles de Pêche), in partnership with FNPF and Confédération Mer et Liberté. The stated aim was to create a festive, generalist rendezvous, bringing together the entire industry (freshwater and sea) and encouraging exchanges between anglers, federations, brands and the media.âeuros

Some 9,000 to 15,000 m² were devoted to stands, with over 120 to 150 exhibitors (brands of fishing tackle, boats, kayaks, tour operators, marine electronics). The program emphasized demonstrations, educational activities for young people, equipment trials on the water, and a TV set for conferences and discussions on the future of recreational fishing.âeuros

This first edition was intended as a response to the disappearance or decline of other shows, in a context of fishing seasons disrupted by climate and regulatory changes. The organizers presented the festival as a moment of cohesion and "family celebration" to restore visibility and social ties to recreational fishing in France.

A step backwards that could well have a serious impact on the leisure fishing industry and on the enthusiasm of fishing enthusiasts. The slow death of the Clermont-Ferrand show was not unrelated to the establishment of the Festival National de la Pêche in Nantes. One edition later, the future of fishing shows looks bleak...
