As a new election cycle approaches for recreational fishing organizations, the National Federation of Fishing in France (FNPF) is launching a national campaign to highlight the dedication of its volunteers and attract new members.

The Importance of Volunteering

With 1.5 million members and nearly 68,000 volunteers across the country, the FNPF stands as one of France?s largest nonprofit organizations. Starting June 10, 2026, it will launch a major communication campaign designed to highlight those who work daily to promote recreational fishing and the preservation of aquatic environments.

At the heart of this network, 3,500 local organizations play a key role. Their volunteers are active on many fronts: maintaining riverbanks, monitoring waterways, tracking fish populations, leading Fishing and Nature Workshops, organizing fishing events, and even serving as volunteer fisheries wardens. All of these concrete actions contribute both to environmental protection and to the development of recreational fishing.

This trend is part of a marked increase in community involvement. Over the past ten years, the number of volunteers has grown by more than 28,000 people, representing a 70% increase. This is a strong indicator of the appeal of a recreational activity deeply rooted in local communities?both rural and urban?and one that embodies shared values. According to available data, 75% of anglers consider themselves involved in the protection of waterways, compared to 45% of the general French population.

Giving a voice to the stakeholders

To support this initiative, the FNPF is launching a video campaign titled ?1 Minute, 1 Volunteer,? giving a voice to those on the front lines. The goal: to showcase commitment and encourage new types of people to join the network. This initiative will be complemented by visuals shared in the media, posters, social media posts, and local events.

In this context, Claude Roustan, president of the FNPF, emphasizes the importance of this collective commitment: he commends the work of the outgoing teams and calls on all those willing to join the movement, noting that the future of recreational fishing depends on everyone?s involvement.
