Interview / A successful second edition for the Royan fishing show

This weekend saw the second edition of the Royan Fishing Show, held from April 11 to 13, 2025. The second edition lived up to all its promises, with a marked increase in the number of exhibitors and satisfied visitors. Freddy Chollet, the organizer, looks back on this new edition.

Hello Freddy, for this second edition, we were able to see the large number of new exhibitors?

Yes, over 70 exhibitors were present throughout Salon 2025. This represents a significant increase on the first edition, which featured 45 exhibitors from all sectors.

What's new for this second edition?

This year, we were fortunate to be able to offer visitors many more stands dedicated to freshwater fishing. This was a request from last year's visitors, so the whole team made sure that freshwater fishing was better represented at the show. What's more, for this second edition, we had the opportunity to expand to include European brands from Ireland and Holland. For us and for visitors, it's interesting to be able to expand beyond our borders. It's a great door that's been opened, and one that we'll be able to develop in future years.

This year, we had renewed the surfcasting fishing competition, but unfortunately the weather conditions did not allow us to maintain it. On the other hand, the new spearfishing competition went very well, despite unfavorable weather conditions, and the sea boat fishing competition, also new for 2025, produced some fine fish.

After 3 days at the show, what are your impressions?

The feedback was positive, with many passionate anglers strolling the aisles of the show, as well as a good number of people curious to discover the world of leisure fishing, both sea and freshwater. Many young people came to the show over the three days, and we see this as an important factor for the future of fishing. We will continue to work on passing on this passion to future generations.

Passing on the passion for fishing to all

A show with a great atmosphere, both among exhibitors and visitors. We want the Royan boat show to remain a convivial event for both qualified and novice anglers. In addition, many yachtsmen, not necessarily fishing enthusiasts, visited the show over the three days. The opportunity given to exhibitors, and therefore visitors, to carry out sea trials is a plus and much appreciated by both parties.

Can we already talk about a third edition?

I don't think it's any secret that a third edition of the Royan Fishing Show is on the cards for 2026. In fact, many exhibitors have already told us that they would like to return to the show next year. We're already thinking about how to improve the various concepts for the third edition of the show, and will of course keep you informed.
