Carp fishing, natural or synthetic protein boilies

We can't stress this enough. There's no such thing as a miracle bait for carp fishing. On the other hand, some baits are better than others. So-called "protein" boilies are designed to be nutritionally balanced. They have caught thousands and thousands of carp all over Europe, in the most famous and difficult locations. Let's take a look at the characteristics of these boilies.

What is a protein boilie?

Above all, it's not a boilie with a high protein content, but one with a balanced protein content in relation to its dietary requirements. It's considered high-protein because its protein content remains high (around 30%). Simply put, in addition to vegetable proteins, quality animal proteins are used. This type of boilie is considered to be the top-of-the-range boilie.

All-natural boilies or boilies made with synthetic products

The formulation of protein boilies can be entirely natural or supplemented with synthetic products. In the case of totally natural products, everything that characterizes the bait - odor, taste and color - comes exclusively from rigorously selected natural products.

The aim is to make it easier for the carp to be wary.

In the case of boilies using synthetic products, the quality of the basic products is similar to that of totally natural protein boilies, but some synthetic products are used.

The aim is to encourage fish to locate the bait by using "flashier" colors, scents and tastes not found in the natural environment... They have a lure effect in addition to their nutritional value.

Liquids and flours

The additives used in the manufacture of protein boilies come in liquid or powder form. Liquids enable direct diffusion of the bait as soon as it enters the water. The bait remains instantaneous. Powders, on the other hand, are long-lasting, which is a plus for longer baiting campaigns (ALT...). Instantaneity and long-lasting distribution make protein baits versatile baits. Carp nutritional requirements.

The components of the various products used in a good quality boilie cannot be synthesized by the fish. The fish are therefore obliged to seek them out in the available food. High-quality boilies rich in amino acids will diffuse perfectly in the water and "copy" the messages received by the fish from the natural element. Carp quickly become addicted. The nutritional value of these boilies not only encourages the fish to come, but also to stay out of interest and need.

Versatility of high-quality protein baits

The liquids and powders used have different diffusion rates. Versatility of use is therefore enormous. Similarly, the crumbly texture is an important criterion. The components used to create it must therefore be of the highest quality. What's more, the various additives, whether in liquid or powder form, must be highly effective, whatever the water temperature! All this gives good-quality boilies high assimilation power.

A wide choice of boilies for carp

On the market, protein boilies come in a variety of designs, some of which have had an incredible reputation for many, many years. As you can see, these types of protein baits are totally natural or supplemented with synthetic products. In a nutshell, you'll find them in 14, 20 and 24 mm sizes, based on fermented shrimps, tuna, liver, krill, squid, spices, crayfish, salmon... And why not add colorants (orange, yellow...), flavors (fruity, meaty...) and other synthetic products (n'butyric acid...).

Protein boilies have been formulated to become a potential food source to meet the dietary needs of carp. They are recommended for both instant and habituation fishing (good diffusion and assimilation).

But protein boilies aren't the angler's only ally. To set up baiting and fishing strategies, by-products are also available.
