The 11th edition of the world's largest carp fishing competition, the International Balaton Carp Cup (IBCC), concluded on April 19, 2025 on Lake Balaton, marking an intense and spectacular week for the international carp fishing community.

A competition of international scope

The International Balaton Carp Cup (IBCC) 2025 was held April 12-19 on Lake Balaton, Hungary, confirming its status as the world's largest carp fishing competition. This 11th edition brought together 300 teams from 29 countries, including representatives from Kazakhstan, New Zealand, South Africa and Vietnam. Each team, composed of 3 to 4 anglers, competed in a competition area covering 600 km2 around the lake.

Format and conditions of the competition

The competition lasted 160 uninterrupted hours, testing the endurance, strategy and technique of the participants. Several weather alerts, including storm levels 1 and 2, have marked the event, making the fishing even more demanding in some areas of the Balaton. The last 24 hours have been full of suspense, with twists and turns in the rankings and exceptional takes. The Slovakian team ZEMNÍK-BODOVKA SLOVAKIA has achieved a historic double:

Largest fish: a 32.25 kg carp, christened "Midnight Queen", caught around midnight on PEG 34, setting a new record for the edition.

Total weight of the five largest fish: 114.64 kg, a performance that allowed them to dominate this category against very tight competition, especially against the Hungarian team AQVARIUS.

Results and highlights

Overall winner: The Czech team MIKBAITS& KRYSTON won with an impressive total of 565.81 kg for 42 fish caught, in the Balatonederics - Rickenbach Pier sector.

Silver medal: Rebel Baits CZ, with 537.28 kg and 39 fish, finished in second place, fishing in the Sedo sector in Balatongyörök.

Bronze medal: GRUNTY.CZ completes the podium with 501.01 kg and 38 fish, in the Mikbaits sector, Badacsonytördemic.

Double success for AQVARIUS (Hungary): The team won the category for the largest mirror carp (24.95 kg) and second place for the total weight of the five largest fish (106.81 kg).

Sector winners: 12 teams were honored for outstanding performance in each sector, highlighting the diversity and competitiveness of the event.
