Mercury Fishing Cup II: setup and live program

The second edition of the Mercury Fishing Cup, the French championship for lure fishing for carnivorous fish in boats, is fast approaching. Organized by the Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives (FFPS) in conjunction with Mercury Marine, the competition will take place on October 19 and 20 at Vassivière, one of France's largest man-made lakes, covering some 10 km² and located between the Creuse and Haute-Vienne departments in the Limousin region.

A competition broadcast live

For this year's event, the organizers have pulled out all the stops. Several broadcasts will be offered this year.

"Last year, we broadcast only the second round of the competition live for 6 hours. This year, thanks to a bigger budget and new partners, we can be more ambitious, offering almost 12 hours of live coverage over the two days of competition. I think this is a first. We're proud to offer it at this MFC," says Michel Polydor, President of the FFPS Carnassier.

Four live broadcasts will be offered on Saturday during the first round. A continuous live feed, similar to last year's, will be available throughout the second round on Sunday. And good news: the podium ceremony will also be broadcast live, a little later in the evening. Another first!

This year's MFC will be even more ambitious, with a live event lasting almost 12 hours.

Five of the top-ranked boats at the end of the first day will be equipped with onboard camcorders.

Three drones, positioned at different points on the lake, will provide spectacular aerial views and cover the five-wave start from all angles.

The live show will be hosted by three people: Stéphane Durand-Robin and Nicolas Trancart will provide on-set commentary, while Frédéric Brilloux will be out in the field to gather impressions from competitors, organizers, partners and all those involved in this second edition of the MFC.

The production also has a few surprises in store, including triplexes between presenters, competitors and representatives of Mercury Fishing Cup II partners.

Big ambitions

Yann Diquerreau, head of marketing at Mercury Marine France and co-organizer of the MFC, comments: "We have big ambitions for this new MFC and want to make a big impression with twice as much live action as last year. We're relying on the production team and Geoffray Juillard to provide live and replay images for maximum spectator enjoyment. Last year, we used 60% of our capacity due to an unsatisfactory network. This year, we have carried out several tests to ensure optimum 4G coverage across the entire lake. Long live MFC, long live fishing!"
