What species to fish for?
Using floating insects is an exciting way to fish in the summer, catching a wide variety of species. Chub and black bass are the preferred targets of this technique, but it's also possible to catch perch, roach, rotengles, trout, mullet and carp, making this a very varied and exciting fishery.

When to fish with insect imitations?
Spring and summer are the best times to fish with lures imitating floating insects. Quite simply, because this is the time of year when there are lots of insects, and fish feed on them.
What's more, at this time of year, the water is clear, so you can see the fish.
Where to use this technique?
This type of fishing is most effective in rivers and canals. It can also be practised in enclosed waters, but the presence of current helps to present the lure better, especially as it doesn't stagnate and the fish has to make a quick decision to gobble it up, without taking the time to observe it.
What's more, fish living in non-stagnant waters are more accustomed to finding their food on the surface.

Shallow areas, banks with trees overhanging the water, waterfalls and outlets should be favored, where fish are parked, waiting for an insect to pass by.
What about fly fishing?
The technique of fishing with floating insects is reminiscent of fly fishing. For those who appreciate this technique, it often serves as a springboard to fly fishing.

The advantage is that it can be used without constraint for street fishing, allowing you to explore certain areas inaccessible with a fly rod.
