Zarari
The Zarari is a very basic-looking surface lure, but the first thing you notice, or rather hear, when you first pick it up is its very loud sound, due to the internal beads.
These beads, together with a ballast, are located at the rear of the lure allowing it to be cast at a good distance and with precision. This makes the lure both precise when you need to cast close to obstacles, such as when fishing in mangrove areas, or ideal for reaching good distances. Its simple shape also aids precision and increases casting distance.
In France, it is currently available in 4 shades, with one yellow, one black and two whites. This may seem like a limited choice, but with these three basic colors, we can cover a good number of situations, including black, which is a hard-to-find color for this type of lure, even though it's very good!
Remember that this is a surface lure, so when viewed from below, the fish sees a shadow rather than a color, so this limited choice makes sense.
Finally, another plus point is that it comes at a price of ?17.90, which is interesting because finding hard lures under the ?20 mark is becoming increasingly rare.
Use
Unsurprisingly, the animation that suits the Zarari is a classic walking the dog, very simple to perform and noisy! It's a type of fishing that appeals to a good number of predators, such as pike, bass and perch. It's also great for light fishing for small trevally, peacock-bass, dorado or snakehead.
My opinion
The Zarari reminds me of Heddon's Super Spook, whose effectiveness is well proven! The Zarari is therefore a good alternative, or rather a good complement to this historic lure, for new colors or a slightly different sound.
This lure is simple in design, easy to use, durable and attractively priced. Clearly a good lure for all anglers, whether beginner, experienced or traveler!
