Hello Michel, the FFPS Carnassiers section has never stopped evolving and promoting the practice of lure fishing. 8 years on, how do you see things?
The Fédération Française de la Pêche Sportive section Carnassiers came into being in 2016 under the aegis of the FFPS. Comprising a 13-strong volunteer board, the FFPS Carnassiers section has been organizing various French championships for several years, including the French Lure Trout Championship, the French Street-Fishing Championship, and the atypical Salmo Trek. With the introduction of the Mercury Fishing Cup last year, an interesting new challenge has emerged for the FFPS Carnassiers.
Nearly 600 members throughout France are affiliated to the FFPS Carnassiers. Our aim is to continue to increase the number of affiliated clubs, so that all anglers can take part in the various lure fishing competitions.

The Salmo Trek is a real success for a rather atypical competition. How and why did you create such a competition?
I'm very proud of the Salmo Trek's success. In fact, I'm passionate about fishing and hiking in the mountains myself, and I've always wanted to combine the two. To set up such a competition format, we first had to develop an application, "My FFPS", which manages registrations, catches and rankings, as well as the geolocation of competitors (safety, tracking, measurement of intermediate times and speed of movement).
During the covid, the FFPS was able to work on this application, which allows us to properly manage this competition, which has become a must, and today we can organize an umpteenth edition of the Salmo Trek with 80 teams present.

After the creation of the Salmo Trek, the Mercury Fishing Cup has become another not-to-be-missed event. This second edition is set to be another success. Can you tell us a little more about it?
Yes, in collaboration with Mercury Marine France in the person of Yann Diquerreau, the FFPS decided last year to create a French lure fishing championship to match the event. The first edition of the MFC was a real success, and this year a number of partners have decided to join us, much to our delight.
The FFPS is in charge of the logistics and the competition itself, in symbiosis with Mercury Marine France, to make this event a must for all lure fishing enthusiasts of carnivorous fish in France. We look forward to seeing you on October 19 and 20, 2024 on the Vassivière dam lake, with registrations open from June 22 on the MyFFPS app.
