Carp fishing from a boat, a fast and efficient approach

Carp fishing from a boat can be effective in a very short time and gets the adrenalin pumping like no other technique. Come on board with me for an emotionally-charged session where I'll give you my advice.

We've seen how to tackle carp fishing with a boat rod simply. I'll take you on a rather emotional session of this type and explain the strategy chosen and the technical aspects used.

A rather difficult place to get to

In addition to the excitement of this type of fishing, it allows you to be effective where other approaches would be more sterile or complicated to implement. I wanted to fish a particular spot, but the riverbanks remain inaccessible for a good part of the area. Fishing with a rod in a boat therefore enabled me to access all the spots in a very short time. It's the perfect solution to this type of problem.

Alternating shifts

During this short session of a few hours, I alternated the stations where I had observed certain events. On the big day, the carp were digging a lot. The alternation of stations was therefore mainly based on this event. On the other hand, there were few jumps or porpoises betraying their presence.

Start-up strategy

As you will have understood from my previous article, for this type of fishing you need to stimulate the fish present. My bait consisted of small boilies and Feedz and Red Liver Starbaits pellets. This multi-diffusion mix was sprinkled with Dip Red Liver. A small ladleful of the mixture was scattered on the spot. Again, for this type of fishing, there's no need to be heavy-handed.

Assembly used

When it comes to this type of fishing, we often have to fish in or near obstacles. The safety of the fish is paramount and must be taken into account. For this type of fishing, I systematically use sliding rigs. This way, in the event of a break, the fish doesn't end up with a leash, as the lead will no longer be on the line. I also use a float (here a ping-pong ball). It helps to raise the line and also allows visual control of the line, whether during the strike or the fight. This increases reactivity.

Esches in use

Like the bait, I was looking to stimulate the fish. So I turned to Starbaits Wafters in various colors in 14 mm. Wafters have the advantage of being balanced. They act like a snowman (dense boilie + floating boilie). These baits stimulate the fish visually and olfactory, but also mechanically like a lure. The leader used was a combination leader (Shadow + Granit X). The latter was always accompanied by a small soluble net, again to increase stimulation.

Sensational fishing

Quickly set up, in a handful of hours I'll total 4 bites for 4 fish. These bites were made on 6 alternating stations. Without this approach, I'd have missed out on my fishing, as the fish were located on the opposite side of the river from the positions I'd normally access.

Apart from these 4 fish, the sensations for this type of fishing are simply awesome. I urge you to give it a try. Pleasure guaranteed! Isn't that the whole point of fishing?
