Denti, king of the rock

The denti is the most sought-after fish in South Corsica. It is a fantastic fighter that can sometimes be very aggressive. Depending on the season, it can be found at depths of between 5 and 150 meters. The denture comes close to the coasts in spring when the thermocline is very close to the surface, especially in May and June. In winter, it is rather in the great depths, often beyond 80 meters, that we can fish it.
Soft lure, jig and livebait are techniques that work particularly well on this fish. Present in very large quantities on the heads of rocks, the denti is very territorial and attacks violently our lures or baits. Of the family of the sparidae, the denti offer beautiful fights by giving violent blows of head to try to unhook itself. It is not uncommon to meet individuals exceeding 6 kg, some even exceed 10 kg.
The amberjack, the Grail of the Mediterranean

Every fisherman of the Mediterranean who appreciates the fish of rocky coasts dreams of catching a big amberjack. The amberjack has an equivalent that can be found on sandy areas, the liche. In Southern Corsica, the bottom dives quickly and there is a lot of passage of pelagic fish. It is thus the ideal place for the development of the amberjack.
Corsica is known to have a very large amberjack population with some individuals exceeding 40 kg. The average size is obviously lower, about 10-15 kg. This fish is in my opinion the second best fighter after the bluefin tuna. It is also the fish of the Mediterranean that can become the biggest again after the tuna. The amberjack is a fighter that seeks to rub on the bottom after being stung. This behavior often leads to extremely violent starts of fights and fast departures.
Pagre in depth

Pagre is the favorite fish of bait fishermen and, like the denti, it is very present in Southern Corsica. It is frequently found from a depth of 40 meters to more than 150 meters. Unlike the denti, the pike-perch is not as often posted on rocky peaks. It is usually fished on sandy-muddy bottoms, where it easily finds invertebrates and shells. Its jaw is incredibly powerful as it is able to crush anything it decides to bite, including a hook.
Pagfish are usually fished with tenya, kabura and other lures. It is more difficult to get a lure to bite than the denti, but is also more combative. The pike never gives up a fight, it will pull with all its might from the bottom to the surface. It usually moves in schools and the average size that we catch is around one kilo, although some individuals can exceed 5 kg.
