Giant pikes

The Haute-Savoie is without doubt the department that produces the largest number of giant pike. When we talk about giant pike, a fish exceeding one meter is not enough.
The lake Annecy and the lake Geneva have each one of them fishes over 130 cm long. To date, the biggest pike caught with a lure and a cast on Lake Annecy was 137 cm, while on Lake Leman, the record is 138 cm.
The impressive density of very large fish on these lakes has inevitably attracted a large number of fishermen who all wanted to have their share of the cake. Unfortunately, fishing in alpine lakes is often ungrateful and the hits are rare, especially nowadays as the fishing pressure is so important.
A large trout population

The fario trout is a fish that can also be found in large quantities in Haute-Savoie. The numerous large rivers fed by the melting snow and flowing into the Rhone or the Alpine lakes are real producers of large trout.
One can notably mention the Dranses, two rivers that flow into Lake Geneva. The Dranses are particularly famous for the presence of lake trout which come to reproduce and which frequently exceed 90 cm. Other rivers such as the Usses, the Fier or the Chéran are also well populated with fish over 50 cm.
Lure fishing is the most popular technique after the snow melts, but lure fishing works particularly well. The beauty of the courses and the landscape make fishing in these rivers all the more enjoyable.
Perch and whitefish

When trout and pike are closed, a very particular technique remains authorized, the nymph fishing. It is a very popular technique in lake which consists in using several nymphs mounted on a long leader which is brought down vertically. This technique is very playful, it is practiced with small very sensitive rods.
When practicing this technique, the species most frequently affected are the whitefish, also called féra, and the perch. For Lake Geneva, the size of the whitefish can exceed 60 cm and perch of more than 40 cm are not rare. For Lake Annecy, the size of whitefish is lower, but schools of monstrous perch are sometimes tempted, containing individuals that can exceed 55 cm.
The fights are all the more interesting as the material used is fine, leaders in 16 or 14 hundredths and rods designed to throw 1 to 8 grams.
