Rag, a versatile worm for sea fishing

The rag or large gravel is a resistant worm which allows to fish many species of fish in sea. Most often imported, it is a bait of choice to select the beautiful fish whatever the technique.

The large gravelle also called Dutch worm or European hard worm, is a very common worm on the coasts of Northern Europe. It is an imposing worm that can be found on the British coasts, and even across the Atlantic. Of the nereid family, it has a stocky body with many legs along the body. Its colors can vary from red to brown passing by the green or the blue.

Where to get rags?

Rag is mainly found on sandy-muddy bottoms, but it is not always present on our coasts. The rag is mainly raised in Holland before being distributed to your fishing retailer. A worm that is available by the box or by the unit in all seasons.

The size of the worms proposed in the trade varies between 10 and 20 centimeters while knowing that in the natural state, it is possible to meet large gravels exceeding 35 centimeters.

The rag has a good hold on the hook and accepts strong casts. Because of its size, it is baited in its entirety to track beautiful fish such as sea bass or gilthead bream. This Dutch worm keeps very well in fresh water or up to two weeks in its box. The rag tends to stay alive well even at room temperature, an undeniable asset for long fishing trips.

One of the interests of the rag is its good hold on the hook, it is thus a bait of choice for the practice of surfcasting in search of sea breams, sars or other flat fish. It is a multipurpose worm that can also be used for fishing with a jig or a float.

Its phosphorescent side remains an additional asset for the night fishing or on imposing funds. The big gravel, one of the worms to take to make a success of its exits of the edge or in boat.
