From the moment you pick it up, this rod is seductive. It is light and very well finished. The blue border that marks the X5 and makes them recognizable at first glance is a nice touch.
From a technical point of view, the Aero X5 are built in HPC60 + nano carbon. The 12' distance feeder rods are equipped with very light Seaguide XOG anti-tangle guides, double-leg with a large diameter for strong casting ability and resistance. They are rated for a maximum casting weight of 90g (loaded feeder).
The handle is made of EVA foam and cork, very pleasant to handle and very pretty.
One of the key features of the Aero X5 12' Distance Feeder is that it is a two-piece construction. As a result, the rod has a smoother than average action. This makes the rod smoother than the average rod, and its casting ability and strength are even better.
The rod comes with 3 tips: 1.5oz and 2oz with small rings, and 2.5oz with larger rings. This is interesting since the 2.5oz will be used for the most distant fishing.
In fishing action
When fishing, the Aero X5 Distance Feeder rod is both very pleasant and very versatile. It really does not disappoint, especially when you look at the price. It is really a very good value for money.
One of the strong points, surprising at first, but very important in terms of fishing is the action not necessarily usual of this rod. The reel section is powerful and relatively stiff, while the tip section is quite flexible. This allows the rod to throw far for its size/power and to keep a versatility of possible fishing.
With the 1.5oz tip it is possible to fish for roach or plaice up to 50m from the shore. The smooth action of the first section ensures that the fish are not unhooked.
With the 2oz tip, you will be able to fish stronger for breams or longer distances.
Equipped with the 2.5 oz tip, the Aero X5 124 Distance Feeder allows you to fish 60 meters without any worries or to fish for carp in method-feeder. Carp fishing is made possible by the soft first section and the second reel section with plenty of power. The rod allows to take out fishes up to ten kilos without struggling.
My opinion
I was looking forward to test this Aero X5 12' Distance Feeder because I had heard a lot of good things about it. I was not disappointed, on the contrary. In all the fishing situations where I asked for it, it responded very positively. Its versatility is a real asset.
It is sincerely in this price range, one of the best rods on the market. The only drawback is that for the moment it is not available at all retailers because Shimano is not yet well known in the fishing industry.
