For this penultimate day, my partner, as the day before, is going to do well with the use of the bucktail jig. It is definitely the right strategy to adopt, here are some tips to master it.

We might as well say it right away, the day was played out on the first lagoon. Indeed, after having explored this lagoon, on the way back, we see a big peacock bass following a small peacock bass that we bring back. My partner, who has acquired the right reflex, takes his rod equipped with a bucktail jig, puts the lure in the water and captures this beautiful peacock bass.

Have the right equipment

The bucktail jig requires a rod of its own. In fact, it's not the animation of the lure itself that requires a rod with a certain action, but the fact that you must keep a bucktail jig mounted on a rod at all times.

A spinning rod, with a power of about 10-50 grams, with a good reel in size 3000 is the perfect combo to work high rod this lure. It is necessary to fill this one with a braid of 30 Lbs to keep good casting performances. This rod will be, above all, reserved for fishing the big peacock bass that we can observe in open water, when we want to present a bucktail jig quickly.

Indeed, you should always have a bucktail jig mounted on a rod, because it is a very effective lure. Having this rod is therefore above all strategic! Even if this rod will not be used very often, it is probably the one that will catch the most big fishes, so you should not ignore it!

You can of course use a casting rod of equivalent power to use a bucktail jig, especially since this lure does not need to be handled perfectly to catch fish!

Do not make noise

When changing rods, you have to be very careful not to make any noise on the boat, when you walk, retrieve the rod with the bucktail jig... Especially since the lagoons are calm and shallow, the slightest noise is quickly noticeable.

Have the right reflex

Finally, the main thing is to have the right reflex. It is tempting to throw directly the lure you have in hand, but to maximize your chances of success, it is better to lose some time to take the rod equipped with the bucktail jig.

This lure far outshines the others, and when you have a fish spotted like this, the best thing to do is to introduce the bucktail jig.
