1 - Surface Sticks
The Surface Stick is one of the most versatile and effective lures in many settings, including fishing shallow rocky areas with current, where few lures are capable of going. As for animation, a slow walking the dog with long pauses works very well.

2 - The Worms
The worm, or senko, is the ultimate red herring. It is not a lure that will allow you to cover ground quickly, but when you have spotted a fish or a precise spot that could shelter one, it is one of the most effective lures. A wacky rig, that is to say with a single hook planted in its middle, or a rig on a Texan hook are very suitable.

3 - Soft swimbaits
A simple shad mounted on a Texan, or on a lead head for deeper areas is a very good lure for bass. A size of 4 to 5 inches and colors preferably natural and / or dark are preferred.

4 - Propbaits
The small propbaits, even if they are not among the most commonly used lures, are very effective on the various species of black bass. As these models are sinking, the only possible animation is to bring them back continuously, at a constant speed on the surface. The major interest of these lures is that they can be used in shallow current areas.

For smallmouth bass, I tend to use lures that are more discreet and less noisy than for largemouth bass, although the lures mentioned in one of the previous articles also work well on this species. It's more the environment itself, with the presence of current for example, that will define the lures to use.
