1 - Hard swimbaits
Hard swimbaits are good lures for black bass, especially for triggering large fish. The animation of a hard swimbait, as well as the touch are not the same if you fish for bass or pike. For bass, I like very slow retrieve speeds, interspersed with pauses of random duration, between 5 and 10 seconds, all accompanied by some twitch. The touch of the bass on this type of lure is very subtle, it translates into a slight knock in the rod and a lack of tension in the line, as if the fish moves in the direction of the fisherman, while a pike remains on the spot and we feel its presence at the end of the line. One of the models I particularly like at the moment is the Vatalion 115F from Megabass.
2 - The Frogs
The frog, commonly known as a frog, is probably one of the only lures capable of fishing lily pads, so it is important to always have one with you. I like the Deps Basirisky, for its distinctive swimming action and the sound it makes on the surface of the water. However, it is a capricious lure and this swim is not always easy to engage. Even without this linear retrieve, this lure is still very effective with a more classic animation, making it move from one lily pad to another by pulling.
3 - Bladed jigs
Increasingly popular in recent years, the bladed jig is a lure that allows you to catch fish regularly. It lends itself to many animations, but the basic animation is very simple and effective. This animation consists in bringing the lure back at a slow and constant speed, just enough to make the blade vibrate forward. The position of the rod will help you keep the lure at the desired depth. As a trailer, a shad is often used, but a craw is just as effective.
4 - The Buzzbaits
With the noise it creates, it is an interesting lure for prospecting large areas. It has a slow regular speed, just enough to keep the lure on the surface and the propeller turning. It can be used without a trailer, although the addition of a shad gives it more body.
For largemouth bass, don't be afraid to use noisy lures, such as bladed jigs or buzzbaits, especially during the summer.
