A highly competitive black bass tournament
Organized by the FFPS Carnassier in collaboration with Saint-Maur Pêche Compétition, the Fongrave tournament drew 61 anglers. The rules stipulated a boat-based competition in teams of two, with largemouth bass as the target species.
The first round, held on Saturday, set the bar very high. Stéphane Huguenot and Clément Bigotte took the lead with 3,420 points. Florian Cabot and Yvan Poumayrol followed with 3,110 points, ahead of Mickael Weill and Sylvain Garza, who were third with 2,926 points.
The standings were still wide open heading into the second day. On Sunday, Cabot and Poumayrol made their mark by winning the race with 3,605 points. This performance allowed them to take the overall lead by just 3 points, thanks to a second-place finish followed by a first-place finish.
Weill and Garza Honored for Their Consistency
Mickael Weill and Sylvain Garza also had a weekend of outstanding performance. Finishing third in both rounds, with 2,926 and 3,295 points, respectively, they finished second in the overall standings with 6 points.
Rounding out the podium are Stéphane Huguenot and Clément Bigotte. After winning on Saturday, they finished the second race in 11th place and retained third place overall.
Weekend Statistics
This round of the Black Bass League in Fongrave proved to be particularly productive:
- 192 black bass caught;
- 26 quotas met;
- 109,644 kg of fish caught;
- a 1.236 kg Big Bass.
These results reflect not only the intensity of the competition but also the very high technical skill level of the participating crews. The ability to quickly locate fish within the mesh size range and fill their quota proved to be a decisive factor over the two days.

Congratulations to the three teams on the podium, as well as to all the participants, organizers, officials, and volunteers who helped make this stage a success. By staying at the front of the pack all weekend, Poumayrol and Cabot secured a masterfully executed victory and added their names to the Black Bass League 2026 roll of honor.
