An exceptional playground
The competition takes place in the heart of the Glénan Archipelago, off the coast of Fouesnant (Finistère), a site renowned for the richness and diversity of its fishing grounds. From sheltered areas like ?La Chambre? to deeper rocky outcrops and numerous shipwrecks, competitors navigate a variety of habitats combining sand, rock, and seagrass beds.
The base camp is set up in Port-La-Forêt, in the municipality of La Forêt-Fouesnant. A dedicated village there will welcome participants and the public with several highlights: a welcome reception, a meal for the teams, and an awards ceremony. At the end of the day, a pool will allow the public to view a selection of sea bass that have been caught before they are released back into the water, in keeping with the event?s catch-and-release spirit.

A well-established organization
The event is organized by the Glénan Pêche Sportive association, which has about 60 members, with support from Port-La-Forêt and numerous local partners. Following Patrick Tudal, Hervé Cotonnec now serves as president.
Nearly 70 volunteers will be on hand to ensure the competition runs smoothly, including 30 judges spread across 15 boats. Their job: to measure and verify the catches directly at sea.
A Rigorous and Responsible Regulation
The competition takes place within an area strictly defined by GPS coordinates. Participants must fish exclusively with lures, and the minimum catch size is set at 42 cm.
All fish are measured at sea and then released immediately, in accordance with sustainable fishing practices. The rankings are based on the five finest fish caught each day by each crew.
The regulation also includes strict rules regarding safety, navigation %E2euros%94 particularly regarding speed in the archipelago %E2euros%94 and the conservation of marine resources.

A competition with high stakes in the sporting arena
Winning the Inizys Glénan Open is a major achievement on a national level for sea bass fishing enthusiasts. Those in the fishing industry recognize this and provide strong support for the event.
At the last edition in 2023, the victory went to Ricardo and Carlos Da Silva from Quimper.
A symbolic 13th edition
While the Glénan site has previously hosted a leg of the Labrax Tour?a leading national circuit?the Glénan Open was created in 2009. Some editions have been canceled due to weather conditions or the health crisis.
The 2026 edition will thus mark the 13th edition of the competition. This figure echoes another notable statistic: 82 cm, the record average size of fish caught by a team. This achievement will be difficult to match this year.
