Log Surf
The Log Surf is an elongated minnow jerkbait with a small lip that makes its swimming action very responsive and tight. It can be reeled in at a constant speed, slow or fast, or jerked to make its swimming erratic.

Its elongated shape makes it easy to throw and reach good distances. In addition to this shape, it benefits from mass transfer, i.e. an internal weight that shifts.
This changes the lure's center of gravity, enabling it to reach greater casting distances. This system is only activated during the casting phase, and does not alter the lure's behaviour once in the water.

However, I must warn you of an error that has crept into the supplier's catalog. In it, the lure is described as having an integral armature, whereas this is not the case, which changes a lot of things.
Indeed, I thought I'd found a rare pearl, i.e. a very solid little lure, but in the end, it's built in the classic way. It's solid all the same, but you won't be able to use it for extreme fishing.

The basic rig is of good quality, but rather light. If you want to tackle larger fish, I recommend changing it. Instead, you can use single hooks in sizes 2/0 or 3/0, depending on the species you're after.
It has 3 hooks, so if you want to fish in freshwater on the French public domain, you'll have to remove 1 to comply with the law. In the case of the Log Surf, removing the hook in the middle keeps the best balance.

Last but not least, the lure comes in two lengths, 12.4 and 14 centimetres, as well as in two densities, floating or sinking, so you can find the one that best suits your needs.
The floating version is effective when you want to alternate between fast and jerky animation, interspersed with pauses. The sinking version, on the other hand, is preferable when there's wind or current, and you want to bring the boat in fast, or to reach greater distances.
Use
Given its swimming action and construction, the Log Surf is primarily a lure for sea bass, but there's more to it than that.
It can also be used for pike, barracuda, striped bass, peacock bass and all fish weighing from five to ten kilograms, in both sea and freshwater.
My opinion
Apart from the disappointment that the lure is not built around an integral frame, the Log Surf does really well. Thanks to its mass transfer, it casts at very good distances and reacts quickly to each stroke to produce a very erratic swimming action. Its sinking version tolerates current very well and doesn't stall, even when reeled in quickly. It can also be reeled in at constant speed, in which case it swims head down and its body undulates.
