The Frontignan Sport Fishing Club welcomes a new sponsor

La Pêche Sportive Frontignanaise (PSF), the renowned fishing club based in Frontignan, near Sète, has a new official partner in Mercury Marine France.

Numerous benefits for the club and its members

The sport fishing club recently welcomed its captains and members to the "Un Verre à la Mer" restaurant in Frontignan-Plage. The occasion provided an opportunity to introduce Mercury Marine France, the club's new Official Partner.

Maurice Duranthon, Director of Mercury Marine France, expressed his satisfaction at being associated with the PSF club: "I'd like to extend my warmest thanks to Françoise Mauran, Club Vice-President and Treasurer, Jean-Marc Mauran, Club President, and Nicolas Casano, who is in charge of festivities within the club and on the Sporting Regulations Committee, for their invitation. The collaboration with Mercury Marine, which manufactures and distributes engines for yachtsmen and yachting professionals, offers several advantages to the club and its members. It allows them to benefit from the brand's premium image, by taking advantage of Mercury's technological advances and lower prices. What's more, this association offers a high-quality medium for promoting nautical and fishing events."

A great opportunity for Mediterranean fishing

A recent example of this is the success of the Mercury Fishing Cup (MFC), the French championship for sport fishing for carnivorous fish by boat, a freshwater event co-organized with the Fédération Française de Pêche Sportive (FFPS), to which the PSF club is affiliated. Maurice Duranthon sees this new partnership as an exceptional opportunity to reproduce in the Mediterranean what is done in the MFC.

Françoise Mauran is delighted with the partnership between Pêche Sportive Frontignanaise and the Mercury Marine group. "We're going to work closely together to accomplish some great achievements in the months to come."

La Pêche Sportive Frontignanaise, an active and successful club

The club took the opportunity to celebrate the tuna fishing season, which runs from July 12 to October 11, with all fish caught ringed. No Kill tuna fishing lasts until November 15.

Mercury ambassador Nicolas Casano is one of the club's most active members. In fact, it was he who initiated the first discussions at the meeting organized in La Rochelle a few months ago. He shares: "Sport fishing is a passion that I practice with my father and two friends who are crew members. As my professional activity is linked to wine, we created a mix between wine and tuna, and that's how my restaurant, "La Cave à Nico", based in Frontignan-Plage, was born. Mercury has powered all our boats, and when we were looking for a partner engine manufacturer, we immediately thought of Mercury, which is very active in promoting fishing, but also for its notoriety and reputation concerning its engines."

Club members will gather again for the Golden Tuna fishing competition on the first weekend in August.

La Pêche Sportive Frontignanaise is a very active club, affiliated to the Fédération Française de Pêche Sportive (FFPS). With no fewer than 250 members, it is the most successful club in France.

Respectful of the environment and quotas, it organizes various competitions related to fishing in the Mediterranean, including :

  • The Multipêche Competition, held on June 22, 2024.
  • The 7th Golden Tuna, to be held from August 2 to 4, 2024.
  • The Trophée de la Ville, first weekend in October 2024.

Ten PSF boats will be present at the French Championship, to be held from August 19 to 23, 2024 in Carry-le-Rouet.

The PSF association was also responsible for organizing the World Big Game No Kill Fishing Championship in Frontignan in 2018, as well as the French Big Game No Kill Championship in Frontignan in 2022.
