After a night of trying to sleep in the humidity, it's time for the third and final day of the Salmo Trek 2024.
Close the char quota
We bivouacked at Gourg Nere and set off fishing at 6 am. Back to Port-Bielh to finalize the Arctic char quota and find a few trout that could put us back on the podium...
I soon landed two char with a Native spoon, followed by a fario... But this one will just be unmeshed... The lake is literally under siege and many fishermen, like us, are trying to make up their quota of 10 Arctic char. Around us, few fish are out, which doesn't bode well for the future. Nevertheless, with patience and diligence, we managed to lure the 4 missing char and complete our quota.

Unfortunately, no bonus fario will be added to these char... This puts us off the podium and diminishes our hopes.
One last fario for the road!
We decide to set off again for the last special stage.
The spots have been heavily fished and the fish are extremely wary. With a lure, it's almost impossible to get a bite.
We continue on to the upper Bastan, where we leave ourselves one last hour to fish and enjoy a final meal.
We're tired, my back hurts, but we're hanging in there, at least trying to consolidate our 4th place. And finally I take a long shot with the Sliver Shade 17g! It's an acrobatic fight and I'm very nervous that this potential last fish is going to come off! In the end, it came off in the landing net! Phew, it's a beautiful 34 cm lake fario that rewards our efforts.

Then it's time to descend to Lac de l'Oule at marker 8 for the final special stage.
We're in a bit of a limbo when it comes to classification, as our catches haven't been sent out yet.
In the end, we finished a solid 4th in this 2024 edition. It's obviously a notch below our ambitions, and it was especially on the second day that we lost the battle.

Virtually all the favorites turned up, apart from one team from memory and poor Jeremy SEGUIN and Nico VINDRET, who were shown the red card...
Congratulations to the podium and to all the competitors who bravely rose to the challenge. This edition was particularly challenging and difficult.
Well done to the organizers and to all those who helped to make this now unmissable event possible!
