One might think that lure fishing or fly fishing are more popular these days. However, fishing with natural baits can be quite technical and very diversified.
Which bait to choose for trout fishing?
The earthworm is probably the most used bait by fishermen. It is an easy bait to find, either in the shops or even in your garden... Its effectiveness is no longer to be proven. More than the size of the worm, it is its presentation that is important: the bait must indeed cover the entire hook shank and go up on the leader.
It is also quite easy to get worms and maggots (the latter being generally prohibited in first category). But the baits taken directly on the fishing spot are often very suitable, because directly on the menu of the fish that we try to cross... Depending on the season and the watercourse, grasshoppers, black flies, trichopterans, wood carriers, small beasts... can be looked for in the watercourse or on the banks nearby.
Which fishing techniques?
The natural drift fishing seduces many enthusiasts, convinced of its effectiveness. The objective is to be able to swim the chosen bait in the most natural way possible near the bottom of the river most of the time.
The reflection on the lead must be well thought out, so as not to hinder the bait's swimming and to ensure its passage at the right speed and in the right place. It is according to the power of the stream, its temperature, its color and the type of bait that this reflection must be done ... Progressive sinkers with weights spaced further apart as you go down the leader are recommended in most situations.
It is important for the fisherman to keep a "taut" line at all times and to strike immediately on touch. This avoids missing fish, and especially that the catch has engulfed the bait too deeply: the release could be more difficult ...
For fishing in water bodies, fishing with toc is less effective to use natural baits, except to target primarily the fish posted on the edges. Buldo fishing has its regulars, even if it can be reproached for a certain lack of discretion and finesse...
