For bass fishing enthusiasts
The Open des Glénan is a major event for sea bass anglers. The competition will welcome 130 crews of two anglers from all over France. On June 22 and 23, 2024, they will compete in the Glénan archipelago off Fouesnant in Finistère. A prestigious site with a wide variety of biotopes: sand, rock and seaweed. In other words, sea bass fishing enthusiasts will have a field day.
A no-kill event
All competitors in the Open des Glénan are required to fish only with lures (no bait fishing) and to respect a quota of 5 fish per day with a minimum size of 42 cm. All fish are measured by volunteer stewards on the water, and bass are released as cleanly as possible.
The competition rules also cover safety, navigation and, in particular, boat speed in the archipelago, as well as the preservation of resources throughout the year.
A victory in the Open des Glénan places a competitor at the highest national level in his or her specialty, and the various sport fishing brands that support the event are well aware of this. The last edition in 2023 was won by Ricardo and Carlos Da Silva from Quimper.
A village ashore in Concarneau
A new feature this year: the onshore village will move from the Port La Forêt site, currently under construction, to the parking lot of the auction house in Concarneau, where it has been set up in the past. During the two days of competition, this base camp will host a number of festive events concocted by the association's 60 volunteers, including a welcome drink, a crew meal and a concert.
